The Holy Spirit empowers the individual believer to do their ministry. The gifts of the Holy Spirit consist of three groups of three gifts. We are not limited to one but are instructed to desire the best gifts. Which gift is the best? The one that you need at the time that you need it of course.
The Manifestation (spiritual) gifts are varieties of gifts given to us by Holy Spirit and can be imparted by the laying on of hands. They are as the name implies a manifestation of the Spirit. It is interesting to note that the number nine is the number of divine perfection.
Some also refer to these gifts as the sign gifts perhaps in light of the fact that they are a demonstration or sign to all that witness them in operation. The nine spiritual gifts are given to empower us for the work of the ministry. They are frequently divided into three groups of three. There are three gifts of revelation, three gifts of power, and three gifts of inspiration or utterance.
